THE WHITE HOUSE
The White House provides a house to the president of the United States and his family it also provides a office for the president and only him the office is call “the oval office". Inside the house the presidents led the country and live his normal life besides his wife and daughters. It was built in the capital because the most important person in the United States needs to live in the most important city in the United States. It honors all the presidents of the United States because all have live there except George Washington. It honors them because they are the persons who have made the United States the most powerful country in the world.
The materials that were use were wood, marble, brick and sandstone it is a very strong structure I mean it had stay strong for 200 years. Its neoclassical style this style is characterized by grandeur of scale; simplicity of geometric forms; Greek, especially Doric or Roman detail; dramatic use of columns; and a preference for blank walls. It was design by a Irish designer call James Hoban. It was built in 1792 and 1800 it take 8 years to finish the structure is a very short time consider ting the size of the building. It is obviously very different to the buildings in the zone the white house is giant it have over 132 rooms for just one family it is also much more fancy.
It is honor to all the presidents of the United States because they have all live there except George Washington. They are honor because they have made United States of America one of the most powerful country in the world if something happens to America it happen to all the world. Something historical that have happen there is that2 all the presidents have live there and lead the country in the oval office.
Everything about the White House result me interesting because it is a giant structure with a very beautiful designs and details, but one of the parts that most interesting part for me is the size of the structure the height of the house is 70 ft. on the southern side and 60 ft. 4 in on the northern end and it have 132 rooms, is giant for just one family and some workers. I was surprise to found that the only president that don’t live there was George Washington I thought that the house was made especially for him because is in Washington city. When I was in front of the white house I felt like if my house was tiny I also felt bad because I wanted to see it from the inside but it was impossible because of security reasons, of course. I just keep thinking how cool will it felt to be the president of the most powerful country on the earth and how it will feel to have a house with 132 rooms I will sleep in a different one every night I also felt like an ant because the structure was so big I guess is how everyone feel in the moment you see it. When we were almost there we see the president enter with his helicopter or at least that was What Mr. John said. My personal opinion for this structure is that is giant and that it provides a beautiful house to the president of the United States and his family everybody should have a house like the white house unfortunately is impossible only the more important person in the United States can live there.
Andres Arias:
The White House The White House is where the President of the United States of America lives. It is a symbol of the presidency and has been for more than 200 years. It was built by George Washington during the time when he was president. Its construction started in 1790. He, together with the city planner Pierre L’Enfant, chose the place for the new residence, which is now 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. It was built by an Irish architect named James Hoban. President Washington oversaw the construction but never lived in the white house. John Adams was the first president to live in it by the year 1800. The house has been open for public tours and has remained open, except during wartime. It has 3 elevators, 132 rooms, 35 bathrooms, and 6 levels. It also has 412 doors, 147 windows, 28 fireplaces, and 8 staircases. Each president modifies and redecorates according to their personality and personal style.
What impressed me the most was that if a president from other country comes to visit, he does not stay in the White House, he is provided with lodging in another house that is across the street. I was very impressed by all the facilities for recreation it has; tennis court, jogging track, swimming pool, movie theater, and bowling lane.

March 18,11. The White House The purpose of the White House is to provide the president and his family a safe home and the safest office for working at the country. Another main function is to protect the executive power and his family, which is possible because of the tinted windows and walls. And the third function is the oval office, which is the executive’s branch office. This building has many offices for the U.S. president and workers; it is like a large office for them. As you could see it honors the president and the executive branch, it honors them because they are the most important people of The United States of America in power. And it was built in Washington D.C. because it is the most important place of the nation.
The architect of this structure is an Irish man, James Hoban; he won a medal for his great design. This building was planned by the president George Washington. It is made of Aqua sand stone painted of white, and it is a neoclassical style. It’s made of four stories, and the third floor was added in the year 1792. It was started in 1792, completed near the 1800’s, and took eight years to be finished. But later some changes were made like, the oval office, this office was added and on the year of 1927 there were a total of 134 rooms.
This structure is important to The United States of America because it’s the home and office of their president and their executive power’s branch has also their offices. It honors the U.S. president and the executive branch. They are honored because they are the most important people in power of the U.S. And an important historical event was when the British burned it in 1814 during the war of 1812
When I saw this building picture I thought that it was and amazing building, I had never seen such huge and well-structured building. The elegance of this structure is what calls my attention. I was surprised when I read that John Adams was the first president in making use of it. Now I know that he was the actual person who first lived in The White House, because before reading about this structure I thought that George Washington was the first president who lived there. I also was surprised that after John Adams Roosevelt changed the name from “The presidential house” to “The White House”, this information was brand new to me. I didn’t know that The White House had a different name before. I think that it was a great idea painting it again after it was burned for hiding the burns. In my opinion it was a very good strategy painting it in white again. When I was reading I found out that every spot in this building has bullet proof even the walls. So I felt very secure when reading about it because I imagined myself living in there. I think that it’s a great idea because in that way the major U.S. authority is secure. The structure of the White House was built of pale gray sandstone. It was done using a combination of Georgian Neoclassical with Palladian architecture styles. James Hoban based his design on the Leinster House, a grand Dublin home that is now the seat of the Irish parliament. It was built by James Hoban from 1792 to 1800. It took 8 years to build it. The structure has been modified several times. They have been adding to the structure but it still has his original diamond shape, ten miles on each side with the corners pointing north, south, east and west. One of the most significant changes made over time has been its color, changing it to white that gave it its name. As mentioned before, the structure was ordered by George Washington, who supervised its construction, even though he never lived in it. It was planned and designed by Pierre Charles LÉnfant carried out by Benjamin Henry Latrobe It was constructed by paid and slave laborers, including stonemasons brought in from Scotland.
The White House has been considered and recognized as the symbol of the United States of America’s president. Since December 1970, when President George Washington signed the Act of Congress where it was stated that the federal government would reside in a district “not exceeding ten miles square … on the river Potomac.”
The White House is the President’s private home. It is also the only private residence of a head of state that is open to the public, and does not charge any money to visitors.
During the war of 1812 with the Bitish it survived a fire, specifically in 1814 and another one in 1821 during the presidency of Herbert Hoover. It has been remodeled several times.
There are 132 rooms, 35 bathrooms, and 6 levels in the Residence. There are also 412 doors, 147 windows, 28 fireplaces, 8 staircases, and 3 elevators.
The garden is very extensive and nice. It is very well kept and its design is elegant and attractive. I find particularly interesting that there are many rooms and that the house is really large. They told us there are a tennis court, a jogging track, a swimming pool, a movie theater, and even a bowling lane. When we visited this place I felt a deep emotion thinking that the President of the United States lives here. That he might be sitting inside with his family! I thought this was the most interesting and exciting part of the trip. I think the White House, even when it is a very old house, is beautiful and impressive, and very well kept.

The White House
The White House!
For about 200 years, the White House has been a more than just a residence; it has been a symbol of the presidency and government of the US in the entire world. There is a large history behind the White House and it all started when Washington signed The Act of Congress which stated that the federal government would reside in a district. By this, Washington began the project of a President’s House that would have great history behind it and would be important forever… The White House is the official residence and the principal workplace of the President of the United States. It is exactly located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington D.C. This beautiful residence has been the house of every president since John Adams. Today, it is used as a residence and as the principal workplace of the President and of all the country but years ago, it was only used as a residence for the president’s family to live in it. The White House isn’t own by the government, it is owned by the National Park Service and it is part of the President’s Park. The White House has a neoclassic and elegant style. It was designed, originally, by James Hoban but later on, different people contributed to the changes made. It was built between 1792 and 1800, but the modifications were finished approximately by 1952. While Jefferson was in the White House, he thought that there was a lot of land only for him, so he decided to separate a part of land to make it a public park. In 1801, Jefferson decided to expand the house and make two “wings”. In 1812 The White House was burnt down by the British, destroying it entirely from the inside and part of it on the outside. Since that big destruction, the White House had been modificated by almost every president that lived on it. The last modification was made around 1952 where Harry Truman reconstructed the White House. Today, the White House consists of six stories: the ground floor, state floor, second floor, third floor and the two story basement. And it includes: The Executive Residence, West Wing, Cabinet Room, Roosevelt Room, East Wing and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. The White House has been the United States President’s residence for many years, since President John Adams until actual President Barack Obama. This residence honors no one, but remembers all the presidents that have lived there and that have done something good for the country. The White House has a touch of every president and that makes us remember them for what they were and for what they did. The White House was a great place to visit! It is a beautiful and huge residence with a very elegant style. I would’ve loved to enter inside and see all the beautiful and old paintings inside and the different rooms on it but since the entrance was prohibited, we couldn’t enter. I was impressed of the security of the White House and the security they have towards the President. I learned that the President has a helicopter that can move him around or a limousine but they both will always have security people watching out for them. When we were there, we saw some people protesting outside the house. This is because they think that by protesting outside the President’s house, he would do something about it. I really liked visiting the White House and being able to appreciate its beautiful architecture.

Location of the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C
The Significance of this place is enormous since for two hundred years, the White House has stood as a symbol of the Presidency where presidents move in with their families. The White house is located in Washington D.C, Virginia. President Theodore Roosevelt formally gave the White House its existing name in 1901. It was not until 1800, when the White House was finished, that it’s first residents, President John Adams and his wife, Abigail, moved in. Since that time, each President has made his own changes. The elegant mansion we see today looks very different from the Georgian house designed 200 years ago. "President's Palace" was created by Pierre Charles L’Enfant. Costing $232,372, the house was significantly minor than the impressive palace L'Enfant had thought of. With five full-time chefs, the White House kitchen is able to serve dinner to as many as 140 guests. There are 132 rooms, 35 bathrooms, and 6 levels in the Residence. There are also 412 doors, 147 windows, 28 fireplaces, 8 staircases, and 3 elevators. The White House requires 570 gallons of paint to cover its outside surface. Construction of the White House began in October 13, 1792, there was no official ceremony. The mansion's southern facade is a mixture of the Palladian and neoclassical styles of architecture. The White house has a twin in France. Slaves and Europeans helped building the White house in DC. L’Enfant vision was useless and architects James Hoban and Benjamin Henry Latrobe created a much smaller vision of the White house. Anyways the White House was enormous for its time since all homes where small they started building bigger houses after the Civil war. The White House has been called many names, President's Castle, President's Palace, the President's House, and the Executive Mansion. Barack Obama is the president now in days, I believe he does a great job but one day someone told me that maybe he cheated because is the first time a black wins for some time I doubted but then I reacted and believed he is a good president. The White house has been improved, changed and remodeled several times. The gardens are really good looking, gardeners seem to treat everything perfect, the flowers look very nice and the grass looks very fresh. These gardens supplement the White house to be perfect. In the white house includes the executive office of the president. The White house is a very significant event in the U.S history; this is why it is located in the Capital. Washington DC looks a lot like France since Pierre L’Enfant was the architect he transmitted everything from his home. The White house is located in 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. 20052 Washington DC NW.

The White House The White House is the formal domicile of every president of the United States of America. Every president lives here during his presidential term. All presidents live here for four years unless they are reelected, if they are elected again as president, the president has to live for four more years in the White House.
This prodigious building began its construction on October 1792. The construction took eight years. It cost a total of 2.8 million of USD. The designer of the White House was an Irish man, his name was James Hoban. The facade of the White House faces the North; the front consists of 3 floors and eleven bays. Even thought it has three floors on the front, from the outside only two floors can be observed. The front also includes a fantastic porte cochere. The mansions view from the South it terrific; it consists in neoclassical and Palladian styles of architecture. The South façade is different than the North façade because on the south you are able to see the three floors, and on the North you are not permitted.
The White House is located on the North West quadrant of Washington DC at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue 20500, nowadays is the most famous address in the world. This address is a very fundamental one for all the Americans because their president lives there. The first president of The United States of America that lived on the White House was John Adams. As years advanced a new president arrived to the mansion. Every president made particular changes to its home. Even thought many changes were done, the house still remains in a magnificent shape. The house is gigantic and includes many things that a normal house or even a huge house does not include. The White house has many ceremonial rooms were usually visitors eat when they are invited to the White House. It also has a cross hall and an entrance hall. The bedrooms in this home have names, the primary ones are the Lincoln Bedroom and the Queen’s bedroom, and each has a private dress room.
On the West wing of the White house it is located the office of the formal president of the United States of America. The president’s office is called the “Oval Office”, it is huge and wonderful. On the West wing it is also located the Roosevelt Room and the Cabinet Room. Finally the West Wing gives a job to 50 people, 50 employees work on the West Wing of the White House.
The White house contains also an East wing. The most relevant thing about the east wing is that here is located the Presidential Emergency Operation Center. Here there are not many employees like they are on the West wing.
The main function of the White House is to give the actual president of the United States of America an extraordinary home and office. The president is not the only people that are there, their family also lives there and plenty of people work there. The job of the people that work there, is to satisfy the president. The purpose of The White House is to honor the office of the president.
Finally, The White House is an amazing building that gives home to the formal president of the Unites States of America. Many people work there to satisfy the president and do all things possible to make the president happy. Besides it includes a tremendous variety of rooms and centers that make the White House a marvelous place to be.

I believe that they should put more flowers in the garden or put more things in the gardens because it looks very alone all the gardens. I believe that if they put more decorations to the gardens it would look better. I beli
eve that the White House is very important to most of the United States citizens because is what represents them in other countries, I believe.

The White House
For about 200 years, the White House has been a more than just a residence; it has been a symbol of the presidency and government of the US in the entire world. There is a large history behind the White House and it all started when Washington signed The Act of Congress which stated that the federal government would reside in a district. By this, Washington began the project of a President’s House that would have great history behind it and would be important forever…
The White House is the official residence and the principal workplace of the President of the United States.

The WHITE HOUSE
By: LIZ MANZUR
